MYTH 4: A root canal requires various appointments:

Root canal treatment can be completed in one or a maximum of two sitting with recent advancements in technology. However, it all depends upon several factors like the severity of infection or the root canal anatomy itself. After the root canal procedure is completed, the tooth is needed to be restored to serve its function of chewing food, and this restoration need's a separate sitting after the treatment

 

MYTH 5: Cost of root canal treatment is high:

Root canal treatment is a procedure to save the tooth or retain the tooth in the mouth. Summing up for the treatment and the crown would almost cost less than extracting a tooth and placing an implant or a crown and bridge.


MYTH 6: The benefits of root canal therapy are temporary:

Long-lasting results are achievable with predictable endodontics. The symptoms of patients such as pain, severe sensitivity is relieved with the treatment. However, it also depends on the final crown or the restoration placed over it.

 




MYTH 7: Teeth become more sensitive after root canal treatment

It is contrary to this statement as teeth become insensitive to pain from having hot or cold food since the root canals are cleaned. Hence, teeth sensitivity disappears, and the patient can easily have ice creams and hot and cold beverage's. 


MYTH 8: Pregnant women cannot undergo root canal treatment 

This statement is not true as pregnant women can also go for treatment. Root canal treatment, if indicated is inevitable and necessary to retain the tooth. If the x-ray is necessary, the endodontist uses a lead apron to protect the foetus. However, exposure is minimal and only limited to the tooth region. But it depends on the patients as they need to inform the doctor about the pregnancy, or any other medical condition.
